BATON ROUGE - Deputies arrested a man Wednesday after he was allegedly recognized by co-workers during an armed robbery of his former workplace.

According to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office, 28-year-old Cleveland Willis is accused in the Oct. 3 robbery of the KFC on Perkins Road.

Witnesses told deputies that a gun-wielding man dressed in all-black clothing and a ski mask entered the restaurant and demanded money from both workers at the register. The sheriff's office says the victims handed over more than $600 after the robber pointed the revolver at the victims' heads and yelled expletives.

According to the affidavit, one of the workers then recognized the robber's voice and some of his facial features.

"Cleveland, is that you?" the victim asked.

"No, it's not me," Cleveland allegedly responded.

The robber then left the restaurant and hopped into a silver Nissan Altima before driving away. The victims said it was the same vehicle Willis used to drive to work during his tenure at KFC.

Cleveland Willis was later identified in a photo lineup and arrested on one count of armed robbery.
