More than 600,000 registered Democrats & Republicans voted Saturday

BATON ROUGE - Registered democrats and republicans cast votes for the Louisiana Presidential Primary Saturday.

Hillary Clinton ended the night the presidential primary leader for democrats. Donald Trump edged out Ted Cruz as the primary leader for republicans. Fewer than 11,000 votes separated Trump and Cruz.

A total of 311,613 democrats voted Saturday. Just more than 301,000 republicans voted.

Donald Trump and Ted Cruz campaigned in Louisiana Friday. Bill Clinton campaigned for his wife, Hillary, Thursday and Friday in Baton Rouge and New Orleans.

Marco Rubio canceled a campaign stop in Baton Rouge a day before the primary vote.

The presidential election is in November.
