Man accused of rape in SU law library
BATON ROUGE - Southern University Police accused a 32-year-old Georgia man of raping a woman in the school's law library last semester.
SUPD said Shaboyd Cannon of Gray, Ga. surrendered Friday to an arrest warrant for forcible rape.
Investigators said on Aug. 20 Cannon forced himself on a female while in the fourth floor stacks of the A. A. Lenoir Law Center Building. Investigators said a rape kit came back as a match for Cannon's DNA, and an arrest warrant was issued on Dec. 18. Investigators said Cannon voluntarily submitted a DNA sample for testing.
Police booked Cannon into the parish jail. No bond has been set at this time.
