LIVINGSTON - The newly elected Livingston Parish Council is considering the addition of term limits for council members.

Ultimately, voters would decide whether to add term limits after the council puts the issue on a ballot. Councilman Gary Talbert believes all council members support term limits.

"I think people get ingrained in a position, and it's hard to unseat an incumbent. After you've been there a long time it becomes difficult for a change. It's difficult to get an incumbent out of office," he said.

The council will discuss term limits at its council meeting Thursday. Council members are considering either a two or three consecutive term limit.
