BATON ROUGE - A few thousand people lost power Monday due to high winds.

Outages were across the city, but clustered in many spots around Old South Baton Rouge, Merrydale, Broadmoor, and east of Santa Maria along Airline Highway. There were also small clusters of outages in Livingston and Ascension, too.

Outages in East Baton Rouge are scheduled to be fixed by 7:00 p.m. Monday. In Ascension, Entergy reported outages could be fixed by 6:00 p.m. Monday.

DEMCO reported fewer than 100 outages in its coverage area Monday.

WBRZ forecasters said to expect wind gusts of 30 mph or higher. Gusts picked up violently after lunchtime.

The entire WBRZ viewing area and beyond - from southeast Texas, across Louisiana to the Mississippi and Alabama Gulf Coast were under a wind advisory from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday.
