METAIRIE - Sheriff’s deputies in Jefferson Parish recovered the body of a man from a canal in Metairie just after noon on Friday.

JPSO says the body was found near the 4900 block of Veterans Blvd close to Transcontinental.

A sheriff’s office spokesman said a passerby discovered the man’s body. Rescue crews were able to pull the man’s body from the canal.

Investigators say there are no obvious signs of foul play with an autopsy to be conducted.
