IBERVILLE PARISH - Officials with the Iberville Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness are advising residents who live on Bayou Manchac Road to evacuate "immediately."

The evacuation order was issued due to rapidly rising water on Bayou Manchac and the record breaking 21.5 foot predicted crest that is expected to happen at 1 a.m. Monday morning.

"Due to the unprecedented water levels and the uncertainty of the condition of Bayou Manchac Rd. residents on the east side of Hwy 30 in the Bayou Paul area should evacuate immediately," the parish said in a statement.

Residents are advised to evacuate the area and to take all necessary precautions at this time to remain safe during the flood event.

A shelter is open at East Iberville Elementary and High School 3285 Hwy 75.
