PLAQUEMINE - Iberville Parish Deputies have made an arrest in connection to the death of a woman whose body was found in Whiskey Bay last weekend.

According to Iberville Parish Sheriff Brett Stassi, the woman's husband, 28-year-old Jonathan Allee, has been arrested in connection to the murder of his wife, Elizabeth Ferrell.

The arrest is in the death of 28-year-old Elizabeth Ferrell. She is from Humble, TX. Her coworkers there said she didn't show up for work on Friday, April 22nd. The next day her naked body was found in Whiskey Bay under I-10. The Iberville Parish coroner says she was strangled to death, and an autopsy revealed that she suffered blunt force trauma to her head as well.

According to the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office, Allee was arrested in Humble and is seeking extradition to Louisiana to face a second-degree murder charge.

During a press conference Stassi held on Friday, the two had a "very volatile relationship." Stassi discussed "Killing Fields," the reality show on the Discovery Channel that aired earlier this year that highlighted the Parish as a prime area for bodies being dumped after murders.

Stassi said that he didn't think Ferrell was murdered in the parish because of the reality show, however he said that it was possible that she was dumped there because of it.

“I would hope that the reality show never had anything to do with the actual murder but it may have had something to do with the potential dump site of Whiskey Bay may have brought it over," Stassi said.

Earlier this week, deputies with the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office traveled to Texas to try to learn more about what happened in the days leading up to her death.

A News 2 Crew is en route to Iberville Parish. We'll have the latest details on News 2 at 4, 5 and 6.
