18 Wheeler fire shuts down I-10 eastbound on basin bridge

ST. MARTIN PARISH - Traffic is shutdown on I-10 Eastbound in Lafayette after an 18-wheeler caught fire on the basin bridge.

According to KATC-TV in Lafayette, the driver was able to get out safely.

The Department of Transportation advises that traffic is being diverted onto I-49 North then drivers can get onto US 190 East.

State Troopers do not have a timeline as to when traffic will be able to open up eastbound. Westbound travel lanes remain unaffected by the incident.
