TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The LSU Tigers lost their fourth game of the season 20-9 to Alabama in Bryant-Denny Stadium.

LSU's defense brought the pressure in the first quarter. They got a stop on fourth and short to get a turnover on downs. The Tiger offense pushed the ball down field, but kicker Damian Ramos missed a 30-yard field goal attempt.

On LSU's second offensive drive of the game, Bauer Sharp fumbled the ball at the 24-yard line. Alabama's Nikhai Hill-Green forced the fumble and recovered it to give the Crimson Tide the ball. LSU's defense did enough to keep Alabama out of the endzone. They held them to a 45-yard field goal.

Alabama led 3-0 after the first quarter of play.

LSU would move deep into Alabama territory early in the second quarter when freshman running back Harlem Berry broke loose for a big 37-yard gain. That led to Ramos making a 37-yard field goal.

LSU tied the game 3-3 with 12:47 left in the second quarter.

The Tide responded on the ensuing drive. Running back Daniel Hill capped off a seven play, 75-yard drive with a 4-yard rushing touchdown. Alabama led 10-3 with 9:25 left in the second quarter.

Alabama attempted to extend their lead later in the second. After getting in the red zone, the Crimson Tide miss on a 26-yard field goal attempt with 2:28 until halftime.

However, Alabama got the ball back and scored a touchdown on a three-play, 66-yard drive right before the half.

LSU started the third quarter on offense. They got to the 13-yard line, but on third down, quarterback Garrett Nussmeier was sacked. That led to a successful Ramos field goal from 44 yards out. LSU trailed 17-6 with 8:46 left in the third quarter.

On LSU's next offensive possession, the staff put in backup quarterback Michael Van Buren to take over for Nussmeier. In his first drive of the game, LSU punted the ball away at their own 41-yard line.

LSU trailed 17-6 heading into the fourth quarter.

On the first play of the fourth quarter, linebacker Harold Perkins forces and recovers an Alabama fumble. He gives the Tiger offense the ball at the Crimson Tide 38-yard line.

Van Buren went back in at quarterback. The LSU offense failed to find the end zone once again. Ramos made his third field goal of the night. This one form 37 yards out. LSU trailed 17-9 with 10:28 left in the game.

LSU was able to force a punt, but the ball was downed on the one-yard line and LSU went three-and-out again, giving the ball back to Alabama with 7:11 left in the game. Alabama was able to kick a 44-yard field goal to take a 20-9 lead.

With less than 4 minutes remaining, LSU quarterback Michael Van Buren lost the ball on a strip sack. Alabama was able to run the clock out to secure the victory.

Dealership closes leaving customers scrambling for titles https://www.wbrz.com/news/dealership-closes-leaving-customers-scrambling-for-titles/ https://www.wbrz.com/news/dealership-closes-leaving-customers-scrambling-for-titles/ LSU Sports Thu, 9 Oct 2025 4:36:05 PM Brittany Weiss Dealership closes leaving customers scrambling for titles

ZACHARY - A used car dealer closed its doors several weeks ago, leaving some people in a bind as they try to track down their titles. It's been a nightmare for Eric Forest, who has put thousands of dollars into a family vehicle he can't use.

Forest bought a 2015 Yukon Denali XL for the purpose of making family trips.

"I went to Geaux Autoplex, saw this one, bought it, and it's been a nightmare," said Forest.

He put $8,000 down and financed another $5,000. The vehicle needed some work and was assured by dealership owner Shane Starns that it would be repaired. The car sat for several weeks while parts were ordered, and soon the temporary tag expired. When the vehicle was ready, Forest found that the transmission needed to be replaced, which wasn't covered by the warranty. He has since spent thousands to fix his family car, but the real trouble centers around the title.

"Boy, things took a turn when I couldn't get a title," said Forest.

Geaux Autoplex closed a few weeks ago when the owner ran into some trouble with the floor plan, a line of credit used to purchase vehicles for the lot. The business has been cleared out, and there is a for rent sign out front.

"I've reached out to him, I can't get a hold of him, he won't answer calls or texts," said Forest.

He's not alone. Forest's son purchased a car from Geaux Autoplex around the same time, and he can't get his title either. The Louisiana Used Motor Vehicle Commission says there are 15 vehicles, all bought from Geaux Autoplex having the same title issue.

Starns says since the dealership closure, he's going through the motions.

"Unfortunately, we had to cease operations at Geaux Autoplex. I'm working with the Louisiana Used Motor Vehicle Commission and their protocol of a closing dealership," said Starns.

He added that he's "very confident" those titles will be delivered.

In the meantime, Forest is unable to drive his vehicle and is leaving it parked until the title paperwork can be sorted out. The Louisiana Used Motor Vehicle Commission confirms it's working on the situation.

The vehicle's lien holder has sent Forest a lien release. He doesn't owe money on the vehicle but he also can't recoup those funds. The company initially suggested to Forest that he apply for a bonded title, which is something that is not issued in Louisiana.

BATON ROUGE — LSU head football coach Brian Kelly and his family will match $1 million in donations to name, image and likeness accounts within the school's athletic department, the university said Friday.

The "Kelly Family Million Dollar Match Challenge" will see the Kelly family donate up to $1 million to the Tiger Athletic Foundation’s AD Excellence Fund for every dollar of public support via the Bayou Traditions Football Fund.

"LSU has a long and proud tradition of being one of the elite programs in college football," Kelly said. "In order to remain the nation's elite in this new world of college athletics, we have to be competitive in all areas of our program. I am committed to doing all that we can to win championships at LSU."

The incentive runs from Friday through Feb. 5. Donations can be made here.

Kelly’s donation comes a week after Oklahoma State began working on a restructured deal with Coach Mike Gundy. Gundy has said NIL deals had made it hard for the Cowboys to compete, and news reports in Oklahoma last weekend said part of Gundy’s salary would be reallocated toward revenue sharing with players.

There’s no sign that Kelly and LSU are changing what started as a 10-year $95 million deal for the coach.

Kelly previously committed $1 million to the construction of an improved athletic training room and recovery suite in the LSU Football Operations Facility. The pair of $1 million gifts are the largest ever made by a head coach in university history.

FORT WORTH - Kiya Johnson has been one of the biggest names in LSU gymnastics over the past few years. She's known for her difficult skills, big scores and infectious smile.

Johnson has been one of LSU's most reliable weapons as an All-American and former SEC Freshman of the Year, but her road has not been easy.

In her fourth year with the program, Kiya tore her achilles during the second week of the season and was sidelined for the rest of the year.

"The recovery process was definitely long and pretty difficult at times, but again my goal was to just to get back to contributing in any way that I could for my team. I didn't really know what that would look like in the beginning of the year," Johnson said.

Now, Johnson is back to competing and averages 9.95 on floor exercise in the team's anchor spot and is competing on the biggest stage in college gymnastics in the All Around competition.

Johnson is a Dallas native, so she will get to end her collegiate career on the national stage.

"Having an ending to my career in the place that I grew up I think is going to be really fun, and I also have some old teammates that I'll get to see, so it's kind of like a homecoming or a hometown reunion that I'm really excited for, but I'm also going to keep my focus on the team and the job at hand," Johnson said.

LSU will compete in the national semi finals Thursday at 3:30 p.m.

If they are one of the top two teams by the end of the meet, they will advance to the finals on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. on WBRZ.
