BATON ROUGE- A convenience store owner says he was frightened for his life after a man threatened to shoot him, tied him up and took off with several thousand dollars.

Around 7:45 p.m. Monday, video surveillance shows a man walking into the Country Corner store on Perkins Road in Baton Rouge.

The recording then shows the man jumping over the counter and pointing the gun to the store owner's head. The owner was working by himself.

The owner said the thief forced him to open the cash register and safe and told him to put the money in a backpack.

"He tied me up, put me in kitchen and I'm still thinking hopefully he's not going to shoot me. At that time, I'm scared to death. I'm thinking about my family, my kids," owner Tu Lie said.

Lie bought the store in 1998 and has never been robbed at gunpoint before, he said.

"Mr. Lie does so much for so many and it just upsets me. He goes out of his way to help people and he's so generous," neighbor Patty Lambert said. "It's important for people to know how much he gives and how much he contributes. He's just a good man."

Detectives say the man is about 6'1", slender build, wearing a dark colored hoodie and basketball shorts and carrying a red backpack.

The suspect was last seen headed east on Hundred Oaks Blvd.

Anyone with any information on this robbery is urged to call Baton Rouge Police.
