Two transported to hospital after incident at ExxonMobil plant

BATON ROUGE - Company representatives say three people were injured at an ExxonMobil plant.
Officials say there was a release of sulfuric acid at the facility on Gulf States Utility Road Monday morning. According to an official statement, the contractors were treated at the scene by ExxonMobil first responders. Two were transported to an area hospital for further evaluation.
"We regret that this incident has occurred, and our thoughts are with the individuals injured. Our priority is always the safety of our workforce and community,” said ExxonMobil Chemical Plant Manager Dave Luecke.
The cause of the release was not immediately given. The sulfuric acid didn't go offsite and was immediately contained.
