Tips and tricks to keep hands looking youthful
BATON ROUGE - Local dermatologist Dr. Z visited the set on News 2 at 4 to provide some special direction on techniques you can use to keep the skin of your hands looking youthful and supple as the rest of you ages.
The dermatologist says aging skin loses natural support structures that provide that youthful look. As years go by, collagen and elastin diminish in quantity within the skin, and the result is wrinkles and creases in your skin.
One of the treatments she mentioned on today's show involves a wrinkle filler that goes by the brand name Radiesse. Radiesse is injected with a small needle and placed under the skin. Once there, the filler works to add volume under the skin and, over time, can even stimulate the production of your body's natural collagen growth. Learn more about Radiesse at their website.
Beyond dermatologist treatments or surgical procedures, Dr. Zedlitz recommends the usual regimen of skin care techniques to keep your hands from giving away your age. She advises viewers to apply moisturizing creams whenever possible, wear sunscreen with an appropriate SPF and to protect hands from direct sunlight whenever possible to avoid damaging UV rays from the sun.
