Stores, shoppers gearing up for Black Friday
DENHAM SPRINGS - Businesses all across the area are stocking shelves getting ready for the mad rush of holiday shoppers.
Shoppers in Livingston Parish say it's good to finally shop locally and avoid traffic around Baton Rouge. Before Juban Crossing became a reality many in the parish traveled to the Mall of Louisiana and other shopping centers. Some just avoided the bumper-to-bumper traffic.
"I barely went because of traffic and it was so far away," said Kimberly Wadenpfuhl. "I would just only go when I needed something or a special occasion, just sad to say."
Now that Juban Crossing is open shoppers can't pass up the holiday deals with Black Friday nearing. Belk and Old Navy will open doors at Juban Crossing Thanksgiving evening. Old Navy will stay open for 31-straight hours with a store-wide 50 percent off sale.
"It's closer, don't have to fight the traffic to go to Baton Rouge. It's just closer and convenient," said Wadenpfuhl. "I'm glad, because Livingston Parish is growing so much and I teach in Livingston. So it's good to see things are coming to our parish for a change."
Other stores like TJ Maxx, Petsmart, Academy Sports, and Bed, Bath & Beyond will open Friday at Juban Crossing. For a full list of Black Friday store hours and deals nationwide click here.
