Speeding cars connected to deadly shooting
DONALDSONVILLE - The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office released new details on Thursday morning on the investigation into a double-homicide in Donaldsonville last month.
Benny Booker, 29, and Chad Nichols, 37, were found dead on Latino Drive around 3:30 p.m. on Monday, January 26th. Crime scene investigators describes the murders as a "dope deal gone bad".
In addition to heroin, they also found shell casings in the home. Those were examined by the Louisiana State Crime Lab and New Orleans Police Department Crime Lab. Detectives concluded the shots that killed Booker and Nichols were fired from the same gun used in four separate shootings in New Orleans between 2011-2013.
Investigators believe the killers drove away in Booker's white, 2007 Dodge Magnum sedan. Video shows the Magnum and a BMW quickly driving away from the area. The Magnum was last seen traveling toward New Orleans on I-10 shortly after the shooting.
People with information are asked to call the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office at 225-621-4636. There is now a $7,500 dollar award leading to an arrest.
