Severe storm brings residents in Assumption Parish together

NAPOLEONVILLE - People in Napoleonville are counting themselves lucky today after a scary Monday morning where they saw a nearby tornado and high winds take down telephone poles and trees.

Sheriff Mike Waguespack and Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office deputies were out after the storm cleared, knocking on doors to check on the safety of the residents that make up the community.

Napoleonville citizens say the storm has brought them closer to family, friends and the community at large though as there were no injuries and everyone pitched in to ensure the safety of the village.

There is still work to be done in the storm ravaged community though as Entergy workers are trying to get power back on throughout Napoleonville. Some residents may not have their utility service restored until Thursday.

The Salvation Army served meals all day and will provide dinner to the community tonight.
