Senate approves plan funding LA 415 connector
BATON ROUGE - The Louisiana Senate has approved a proposal that would use money awarded after the Deepwater Horizon oil spill for several infrastructure projects, including the LA 415 Connector Project.
HB 578 was passed with a unanimous 37-0 vote in the Senate Monday morning after a vote was pushed back multiple times this past week. It will now head back to the House so that lawmakers might approve the revised version of the bill.
The highway connector project will link LA 1 in Port Allen to the already existing 415 highway, avoiding I-10 at the Mississippi River Bridge.
"Right now, if something happened around the base of the Mississippi River Bridge, there's no alternative route," Ward said.
