Outside view: watch man in mini-van rob restaurant

WALKER- Police are looking for a man who held up a fast food restaurant through the drive-thru window recently.

The heist at the Jack in the Box was captured from two angles: inside where workers are seen scurrying as the crime unfolds and from outside as the man drives to the window. The man was driving a minivan, an unusual vehicle to be involved in a robbery, police said.

"A middle aged male driving a minivan does not fit the profile of an armed robber," police said in a news release Wednesday. They released information a month after the crime happened. Police said they delayed issuing information publicly in an effort to identify a suspect, but that has proven difficult.

"His efforts to avoid clear detection by the restaurant's surveillance cameras were successful," Captain John Sharp said.

Adding to the strangeness, the man raised the rear lift gate of the van, blocking security cameras from recording his license plate.

"[He] apparently knew what he was doing," Sharp said.

Police said the man showed the cashier a gun after he pulled to the window and was greeted by the worker. Police did not release how much money was taken, but security cameras show the cash register empty of the cash inside once the holdup is over.
