Man killed, woman injured in deadly Wednesday night shooting on Evangeline
BATON ROUGE - According to Baton Rouge Police, a deadly double-shooting occurred on Evangeline Street Wednesday (Oct. 14) night and officials with the Baton Rouge Coroner's Office have identified the man who was killed in the gunfire.
Officials say say two people, a man identified as 24-year-old Malik Pitcher and a woman whose name has not been released, were shot shortly before 8:30 p.m.
According to police, Pitcher and the woman were in a vehicle that was headed eastbound on Evangeline Street when a second vehicle pulled up alongside them and began firing at them.
Both Pitcher and the woman were rushed to a local hospital for treatment.
But Pitcher, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
The woman was treated for non-life threatening injuries, authorities say.
According to police, at this time a motive for the shooting and any suspect(s) involved remain unknown.
