Law enforcement continue search after suspects shoot at Gonzales Police
GONZALES- Police are still searching for two suspects after they shot at law enforcement this morning.
At approximately 2: 27 a.m. Gonzales Police Officers pulled over a vehicle they felt was driving suspiciously in the Orice Roth area. When the vehicle came to a stop, two males exited and began fleeing the scene. During that time, one male fired three shots at officers.
Gonzales Police were assisted by the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, Baton Rouge Police, and Livingston Sheriff’s Office in an attempt to locate the suspects.
While searching the suspect's car, authorities discovered it was stolen from St. James Parish. Evidence found inside the car suggests the suspects were also involved in several vehicle burglaries in that area.
Due to the proximity of the incident to Gonzales Middle School, school officials were contacted. The school day started at 9:23 a.m. this morning.
