Future of LSU, Miles the talk of tailgating
BATON ROUGE - Toby Campbell is stirring up his second dish of the day Friday, but it's empty RV spots and not empty bellies that has the LSU fan worried.
Campbell told News 2 he's noticed fewer tailgating fans have turned out for the past few home games after LSU started a three-game losing skid.
"My boys come to LSU, we like to support them season long, regardless of the season or anything," he said.
Fans like Campbell have also been barraged by headlines predicting Les Miles' future with the Tigers, and leaves them questioning if it's the end of the Mad Hatters' purple and gold reign.
"I'm afraid it might be," Campbell said on Friday.
A spokesperson for the Tiger Athletic Foundation told News 2 Friday night that the donor organization has not been contacted by the school regarding the head coach. In order for LSU to end their contract with Les Miles they'd have to be willing to buy out his $15 million contract, money that would likely come from that fund.
Rumors again swirled Friday about comments Miles supposedly made during a meeting with another donor group, the Gridiron Club. The Tiger Rag blog and other media outlets reported Miles made statements which indicated he was done at LSU after the Texas A&M game this weekend.
LSU refuted the claim, and sports information director Michael Bonnette said Miles told him he said nothing of the sort.
The situation leaves a lot in the air as the Tigers prepare to face the Aggies on Saturday, with fans like Campbell hoping they eventually lead to a brighter future for LSU.
