Days later, police discover apparent murder-suicide in Baton Rouge neighborhood
BATON ROUGE - A murder-suicide was discovered inside a Kenilworth-area home days after the shooting actually took place, police say.
The discovery was made around 11:45 a.m. in the 900 block of Highland Park Drive. Two people were found dead from apparent gunshot wounds inside the house.
Detectives with the Baton Rouge Police Department believe 36-year-old Thomas Marcello shot and killed his wife, 34-year-old Maria Marcello, before shooting himself.
Police say a family member came to check on the pair after friends and relatives hadn't heard from them for a number of days. When that person arrived at the house, the two were found dead.
Authorities also believe one of the victims suffered from a mental illness.
