Zachary bypass opened Thursday
ZACHARY - City officials opened the newly-completed bypass Thursday.
The street is less than a mile long and allows a quick route around the city's busy main street. Designers said the bypass will reduce traffic around the city, especially on Highway 19.
"We are committed to continuing to address the effects of rapid growth in Zachary. A key part of those efforts is to ensure that our roadways are safe and that traffic flow on our streets is improved," Mayor David Amrhein said. "This infrastructure improvement will not only help to promote the economic growth of our city, but improve safety for its drivers as well."
The city hopes the bypass will facilitate business growth, too.
