Wrecks slow traffic on I-10 to a crawl
BATON ROUGE - Multiple wrecks on I-10 slowed traffic on the interstate system to a crawl Tuesday during the noon rush.
As of 1 p.m., DOTD reported wrecks blocking lanes or causing trouble in three locations on I-10.
Two lanes were blocked by a multi-car pileup on I-10 West between the I-12 and Essen exits. Traffic was passing through the area, but was having to fit through one lane.
DOTD said a disabled semi trailer also backed up traffic on I-10 West near the College Drive exit. Another wreck reported on the Mississippi River Bridge was cleared up by 1:15 p.m.
Drivers are urged to use caution while using the interstates through central Baton Rouge until these wrecks are cleared up and congestion is eased.
