Women's Health Day and Retreat
BATON ROUGE- This week is national Women's Health Week and Senator Sharon Weston Broome and the Louisiana Center for Health Equity are hosting a rally and health summit in recognition of women everywhere.
The rally is being held on the steps of the State Capitol and will include women from throughout Louisiana. The event is being held to raise awareness about issues in women's health and provide information to encourage women to lead healthier lives.
"Healthy women make healthy communities," said Broome. "We want to use this opportunity to empower women with information so they can empower themselves."
Women play many different roles throughout their lives, and sometimes they need to take a step back and worry about themselves for a change.
"We make up the majority of the population so it's time that we learn and get information in terms of how we can move forward healthier, and help build our communities," said Broome.
Women everywhere are encouraged to show up Wednesday at the State Capitol at 9 a.m. to show support for women's health. The women's health day retreat will be held after the rally from 10 a. m. to 3 p.m. at the Capitol Park Welcome Center, located at 702 N. River Road.
