Woman leaves toddler and baby in hotel room to go to casino
BATON ROUGE - A woman is being charged with child desertion after police say she left two children, ages 1 and 3 years old, in a hotel room to go to a casino.
According to an arrest affidavit, 30-year-old Brenda Coleman admitted she left the kids unattended at the hotel on Plaza Americana Dr. while they were asleep.
The front desk clerk notified police after seeing the kids running through the halls without supervision.
Coleman originally told authorities another person was in the room but after watching surveillance video from the hotel, police said no one entered or exited the room besides Coleman and the children.
Child protective services were notifed and the kids were taken out of Coleman's care.
