BATON ROUGE - New information was revealed through jail booking records showing a murdered woman was dead for hours before her lifeless body was found.

The woman's ex-boyfriend, Miguel Angel Lopez, 42, was arrested in connection with her death. The victim was identified as Sara Hernandez, 41.

Police said Lopez stabbed Hernandez to death this weekend inside a home on Goodwood, a few doors down from where Goodwood Boulevard crosses Flannery and changes from boulevard to drive.

Police were called to the home in the the 13000 block of Goodwood Drive around 7:30 Sunday morning but Hernandez had likely been dead for ten to fourteen hours before they arrived.  Police said Lopez did not call 911 immediately after killing the woman despite having the ability to.  Instead, police were notified hours later.

Lopez was hospitalized for his own injuries then booked into jail.

Witnesses said Lopez had previously threatened and followed Hernandez around before the murder.

Members of the LSU Greek community have set up a GoFundMe to help pay for Hernandez's funeral expenses. Sources say Hernandez worked as a cleaner for several fraternity houses, including Phi Gamma Delta, Sigma Nu, Kappa Delta, and Tau Kappa Epsilon.

"Her incredible work ethic, her devotion to family, and her beautiful smile inspired us all," the fundraiser page read.

Lopez is charged with second degree murder.
