Wednesday is welcome day for Miss USA contestants in BR
BATON ROUGE - Wednesday morning, contestants for the Miss USA pageant will wake up in their hotel rooms in the city and prepare to make their first public appearances.
Just before sunset, the group will participate in what the organization calls an "Extreme Sports Outing." The contestants will go rock climbing and ride BMX bikes at the Perkins Road park near Siegen Lane and Perkins Road.
Thursday there is a welcome reception in downtown and at the Old State Capitol.
Friday is the busiest day for the contestants this week, who will start the morning in the Atchafalaya Basin where they will take a swamp tour. They'll end the day with a dinner after horseback riding, water skiing and a community service gathering.
The pageant concludes with the crowning of Miss USA on July 12th. Read more about the controversy surrounding the production and its owner, Donald Trump, HERE.
