VP Biden, AG Lynch to attend memorial for fallen officers

BATON ROUGE - Vice President Joe Biden and U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch have announced they are to attend an upcoming memorial service for Baton Rouge officers killed in July 17’s ambush shooting.

The memorial for fallen officers Jackson, Gerald and Garafola will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Healing Place Church at 19202 Highland Road.

The final funeral of the third officer killed, Montrell Jackson, wrapped on Monday afternoon after Gerald and Garafola were buried on Friday and Saturday respectively. Services for Officer Gerald also took place at Healing Place Church.

Large numbers of local, state and federal officials are expected to turn out for the memorial which is open to the public. Gov. John Bel Edwards is scheduled to speak along with relatives of the officers killed during the shooting.
