Volunteers hand out water to school kids during heat
BAKER - Beating the heat in Baker meant passing out bottles of water to kids coming home from school.
It's part of an initiative called "Stay Hydrated in Baker."
Jerri Williams is one of several volunteers giving out the water. Her group is worried children won't heed warnings and end up dehydrated from the heat.
"We definitely want our children, particularly, hydrated. We don't want anyone falling out. We don't want anyone having an asthma attack because of the heat," she said.
Sponsors are donating the bottled water. If you'd like to volunteer to help, call Williams at (337) 343-0999.
