Uber lays out plan for LSU gameday riders
BATON ROUGE - The Uber Baton Rouge Team announced special game day pick up and drop off locations to deal with the surge in demand and traffic conditions sure to accompany tomorrow night's LSU football home game.
Last Saturday was a big day for the popular app as LSU fans took advantage of the convenient app to get within walking distance of Tiger Stadium, and the company said it will implement "no request zones" and designated pick up and drop off locations to improve the experience for Uber riders tomorrow night.
The company released a map on its blog last week that outlines the area around Tiger Stadium that uberX drivers will not enter to pick up app users. The uberX service will only operate outside the boundaries of Chimes Street, Nicholson Drive, Highland Road and W. Parker Blvd. To request a ride on game day, app users will need to request pick up at a location outside of the designated "No Request Zone".
Uber has designated three pick up and drop off zones just outside the boundary, but within easy walking distance of Tiger Stadium to improve the game day experience for its riders. The map image attached to this story indicates these zones with light blue circles.
With ride requests expected to be in high demand, Uber said surge pricing will be in effect for most of the weekend in order to ensure an ample number of drivers are on duty. The company typically enacts a price increase when rides are at a premium, but goes to great lengths to make sure that users of the service are aware of the price increase before they accept the ride and agree to the fare.
