GONZALES - Sheriff's deputies released pictures of two people who investigators said passed counterfeit bills at an Ascension Parish store recently.

Investigators said they were called to the Lake Market store on Highway 31 on April 1. Detectives said a man and a woman at the store used the fake money for purchases.

Deputies said the man they're seeking was wearing a baseball cap, a dark colored muscle shirt and light colored shorts. The woman was wearing a light colored t-shirt, dark colored shorts, and flip flops. The two were seen leaving the store in an older-model gray Dodge Caravan.

According to the sheriff's office there's been an increase in the use of counterfeit money at several stores across Ascension Parish in recent weeks.

Anyone with information about this incident should call the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office at 225-621-INFO (4636) or text anonymously to their tip line at 847411.
