ST. JAMES PARISH - Two brothers were killed in a single-vehicle crash that occurred St. James Parish Sunday morning.

According to Louisiana State Police, 29-year-old Ricardo Wallace and 21-year-old Corin Wallace of Laplace have died as a result of the crash.

Officials say the crash occurred on Hwy. 61 near Blind River around 2:00 a.m. Sunday morning.

Ricardo Wallace, the driver of a 2008 Audi sedan, was traveling southbound on Hwy. 61 at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle, authorities say. The vehicle overturned, struck a tree, and was then submerged in the bayou.

Both Ricardo Wallace and his passenger, Corin Wallace, were pronounced dead at the scene by the St. James Coroner's Office. Authorities say the two individuals identified as brothers.

State Police believe alcohol and speed were factors in the crash. Toxicology samples will be taken from Ricardo Wallace for analysis.
