Tuesday shooting is first homicide for city police in 2016
BATON ROUGE - Police identified the victim of a shooting on North 23rd Street Tuesday night.
23-year-old Tyrell George was found shot on the side of the street near Jefferson Avenue just after 7 p.m., according to the Baton Rouge Police Department.

The coroner's office will perform an autopsy Thursday.
City police noted that the fatal shooting is the first homicide of 2016. The East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office has already investigated a murder since the calendar year began.
