Trump tweets he's 'working hard' to stop Carrier from moving jobs to Mexico
PALM BEACH, Fla. - President-elect Donald Trump is spending Thanksgiving with family at his Palm Beach estate in Florida, but he's still been working.
Trump tweets that he is "working hard, even on Thanksgiving," trying to get the Carrier air conditioning company from moving jobs to Mexico. Trump added that he's "MAKING PROGRESS - Will know soon!"
I am working hard, even on Thanksgiving, trying to get Carrier A.C. Company to stay in the U.S. (Indiana). MAKING PROGRESS - Will know soon!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 24, 2016
Carrier confirms that it "has had discussions with the incoming administration," but says there is "nothing to announce at this time." The company previously announced plans to move 1,400 jobs to Mexico from Indiana.
On the eve of the holiday, Trump offered a prayer for unity after "a long and bruising" campaign season.
In a video message on social media, Trump said, "Emotions are raw and tensions just don't heal overnight." He added, "It's my prayer that on this Thanksgiving we begin to heal our divisions and move forward as one country strengthened by shared purpose and very, very common resolve."
