Trump dismisses editorial calling on him to drop out
DES MOINES - Donald Trump is dismissing an editorial in the Des Moines Register as "sophomoric."
It calls on Trump to end his presidential campaign -- or what the newspaper calls a "side show." The paper says Trump "has proven himself not only unfit to hold office, but unfit to stand on the same stage as his Republican opponents."
Over the weekend, Trump scoffed at Sen. John McCain's reputation as a war hero in Vietnam, saying he preferred people "who weren't captured."
Trump is accusing the Iowa newspaper of treating his campaign unfairly.
Meanwhile, some of his Republican rivals aren't being any kinder to him. On "CBS This Morning," Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham had this message for Trump: "Run for president. But don't be the world's biggest jackass."
But as the fallout continues, Trump's supporters are more excited than ever about his chances. One of his county chairmen in New Hampshire says, "The more Mr. Trump is being beaten on by people, obviously the better his polling numbers are." And one Iowa backer says he wants "somebody who is straight shooting and tough for America."
