Trinity Marine to close Tchefuncte River facility, lay off 336
MADISONVILLE, La. - A barge manufacturer says it will close a facility on the Tchefuncte River and lay off 336 workers.
Trinity Marine Products Inc. announced the layoffs on Monday in a notice to the Louisiana Workforce Commission.
The company says the layoffs will take place by the end of the year. The facility will begin closing down on Dec. 4.
Trinity makes a variety of barges, including dry cargo barges and tanker barges.
The Louisiana Workforce Commission says state workers will visit the facility to help the Trinity workers who are about to be laid off. The state will help the workers apply for unemployment insurance benefits and find new jobs.
