Ted Cruz set to announce 2016 presidential bid on Monday
LYNCHBURG, Va. - First-term Texas senator, Ted Cruz, will announce he is running for the Republican presidential nomination Monday.
He is the first candidate to do so in what is expected to be a competitive GOP primary. He is one in over a dozen other Republicans expressing interest in the election.
Cruz is known to be a critic with the Obama Administration regarding Obamacare. Before he was a senator, he served as a solicitor general of Texas and graduated from Princeton University and Harvard Law School.
Cruz was originally duel-citizen born in Canada to an American mother and Cuban father, but renounced his Canadian citizenship in 2014.
