Tangipahoa Parish man killed in single vehicle crash on LA 443
LORANGER – State Police say one man is dead after a Sunday morning crashing in Tangipahoa Parish.
The single vehicle crash happened on LA 443 near Lanier Road in Loranger, La. Louisiana State Police said 69-year-old Alfred F. Dykes was killed in the single vehicle crash.
Dykes was reported as a missing person Saturday after not returning from routine errands. Police are still trying to determine when the crash happened.
Investigators say Dykes’ van ran off the roadway at a curved portion of LA 443. The van became airborne as it crossed Lanier Road, coming to rest in a creek about 700 feet from where it left the road.
Police said Dykes was wearing a seatbelt but still suffered fatal injuries. The Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office pronounced him dead at the scene.
Investigators do not believe impairment to be a factor in the crash. Blood samples were taken for analysis.
The crash still remains under investigation.
