PLAQUEMINE - Authorities say a man is dead after he was set up to be killed while driving on a highway in Iberville Parish last week.
Plaquemine Police responded to a reported crash on LA 1 around 10 p.m. Wednesday. There, first responders found the driver, Travis Washington, had been shot. He was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators would later piece together details from crash which led them to believe that Washington was shot by a passenger in a pre-orchestrated killing.
Two people, identified as Jaquel Smith and Larry Grant, have been arrested for their alleged roles in the shooting. Police say Smith, another passenger in the car at the time, helped set up the attack. Grant is accused of helping the shooter get away.
Authorities are working to identify the killer, who is still on the loose.
