GREENSBURG - The St. Helena College and Career Academy is gearing up for the school year by working to complete construction on a brand new facility.

The building will have classrooms, a science lab, and administrative offices. It will hold between 700 and 800 students.

The school was able to begin construction last October because of a tax measure that was passed in 2012. Some teachers hope the new building will be an incentive for students to be excited about the school year.

"I think it changes their morale when it's something new and fresh. It gives them a little motivation," said teacher Shiyecca Singleton.

Construction is expected to be complete in October.
