BATON ROUGE - The Southern University system is working to fill three chancellor openings.

Six semifinalists have recently been named in the search for a new Southern University at Shreveport chancellor, and search committees are working to find new leaders for Southern University's Law Center and Agriculture Center.

The former Southern University at Shreveport Chancellor, Ray Belton, was recently promoted to head of the system. Former Law Center Chancellor Freddie Pitcher resigned last year; and Leodrey Williams, who lead the Agricultural Center, recently retired.

Six semifinalists to lead the Shreveport campus will be interviewed on Jan. 29.

Nine people have applied to become chancellor of the law school. A 14-member committee will narrow the list to three semifinalists in the coming weeks.

The Agricultural Center search committee just began taking applications.
