Southern smacked by Alcorn State 56-16
LORMAN, MS - Alcorn State got a big win over Southern, as the Braves beat the Jaguars 56-16.
The Jaguars came into the game 1-0 in SWAC play, hoping to assert themselves as the team to beat in the conference.
Instead, they'll have to reevaluate after giving up more than 400 yards rushing and 682 yards of total offense.
The Jaguars started with the first score of the game, as Austin Howard found Justin Morgan on a 51 yard touchdown pass to make the score 7-0.
After that, though, it was all Braves as Alcorn scored four consecutive touchdowns to make the score 28-7 in the 2nd quarter.
The Jags scored a field goal and a touchdown, respectively, to cut the Braves lead to 28-16 at the half, but the Braves scored 3 more touchdowns to put the game out of reach.
