Southern makes it 5 straight with win over Texas Southern 30-20
BATON ROUGE - The Southern Jaguars won their fifth straight game as they beat Texas Southern 30-20 on Saturday night.
The Jags were tested once again, falling behind 17-14 after a Jags punt was blocked and returned for a touchdown.
The Jags marched right back down the field, though, as Austin Howard capped off a scoring drive with a 9 yard touchdown run to put Southern back up 21-17 and the Jags never looked back.
If the Jags beat Mississippi Valley State next weekend, it'll set up a Bayou Classic showdown against Grambling state with a birth in the SWAC championship game on the line.
