Some area teams leave Mercedes Benz Superdome without the bling

NEW ORLEANS- The Superdome provided mixed news for football fans of the two lab schools associated with LSU and Southern Friday night.

University High was declared the state champions in Division 2 by outplaying Parkview Baptist, also of Baton Rouge in a 46 to 32 final. Kick off was at 5 p.m.

Southern Lab was not able to clench a trophy Friday at the end of its daytime game against Ouachita Christian. The Monroe-area team beat Southern 52 to 6 taking the Division 4 title.

Zachary lost to Acadiana High of Lafayette allowing the Wreckin' Rams to play Destrehan High next Saturday following Destrehan's defeat of West Monroe in the state's largest high school football division, Class 5A.

Livonia plays Amite in Class 3A by beating West Feliciana.

Northeast lost to Many, ending their championship hopes.
