GRETNA - Shoppers returned to the Gretna mall Friday where a shooter killed one person on Christmas Eve, and were greeted by tighter security throughout the property.

Extra Jefferson Parish Sheriff's deputies patrolled the Oakwood Center mall two days after investigators said 24-year-old James Vaughan was shot and killed inside a shoe store.

Deputies charged 25-year-old Gary M. Francois with his murder. Investigators said they believe he targeted Vaughan.

Surveillance video showed Francois waited for Vaughan to finish checking, then walked up and shot Vaughan after he left the store.

Francois remains in jail tonight on murder charges.
