Shoppers make final preparations for Black Friday

BATON ROUGE - As the feasting draws to a close on Thanksgiving Day, many Baton Rouge residents will turn their attention toward hitting the stores to cash in on Black Friday savings.

The Black Friday tradition of "doorbusters" where one must be at the store when it opens to benefit remains firmly in place this year and WBRZ.com is keeping track of store opening times.

Big retailers like Target and Wal-Mart will be open on Thanksgiving and will keep their doors open into the early morning hours, but some stores are altering their Friday hours of operation to let early risers have a first pass at the sales.

We'll update these lists of Thanksgiving/Black Friday store opening hours as new information becomes available.

Thanksgiving store openings

6 a.m. - Kmart (Gonzales)
7 a.m. - Big Lots
4 p.m. - Michael's, Old Navy
5 p.m. - Best Buy, J.C. Penney, Stein Mart, Toys R Us, Dick's Sporting Goods
6 p.m. - Wal-Mart, Kohl's, Sears, Macy's, Target, Sports Authority, Staples

Black Friday store openings

12:01 a.m. - Gamestop
5 a.m. - Home Depot, Lowe's, Academy Sports+Outdoors
6 a.m. - Bed, Bath & Beyond
7 a.m. - T.J. Maxx, Marshalls
8 a.m. - Dillard's, Best Buy (reopen after closing at 1 a.m. on Thursday)
9 a.m. - Costco
