GONZALES -The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office arrested a man who allegedly shot at a 45-year-old victim after an argument ensued between the two.

Deputies arrested 26-year-old Morris Miles in a shooting incident that happened Saturday on Pookey Lane in Prairieville. Authorities say an argument got out of hand and one of the men was shot.

Reports say the 45-year-old male was dropped off at 2:34 p.m. Saturday afternoon at Our Lady of the Lake Ascension Hospital. After rolling the victim into the emergency room lobby the unidentified man ran out of the hospital and drove off in a white SUV.

The sheriff's office announced the victim died Tuesday afternoon. The man who dropped him off remains unidentified.

Miles was arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail for attempted second-degree murder, illegal use of a dangerous weapon along with multiple other charges. His charge was upgraded to second-degree murder.
