Sheriff: 2 men charged with murder
BATON ROUGE - East Baton Rouge Sheriff's deputies say two men are in custody after a man was killed Thursday night.
Byron Maxson, 26, was arrested Friday evening. Troy Carter Jr., 26, was captured Saturday morning and is being treated for a gunshot wound at a hospital in Hammond. He will be booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison once he is released from the hospital.
Deputies say Maxson and Carter shot and killed Ivan Molina, 38, on the 16000 block of George O'neal Lane late Thursday night. Witnesses say the two suspects walked up to Molina's house and knocked on the door. When Molina answered, the suspects opened fire. Molina died at the hospital from his injuries.
Officials say Carter's gunshot wound is still under investigation. They believe it came from either Maxson or Molina.
Deputies say Maxson and Molina were acquaintances with an ongoing dispute.
Both Maxson and Carter are charged with Second Degree Murder and Illegal Use of Weapon. The incident is still under investigation.
