Sex offender arrested for failing to register
PRAIRIEVILLE - Sheriff's deputies in Ascension Parish said a sex offender is back in custody after skipping out on his registration requirements again.
Sheriff Jeff Wiley said deputies caught up with Wade Pardue, 36, Monday afternoon on Smith Road north of Prairieville. Investigators said they spotted Pardue outside a residence and arrested him after he tried to run from authorities.
Pardue was convicted in 1999 of carnal knowledge of a juvenile and twice in 2011 for failing to register. Sheriff Wiley said Pardue was released from prison in February 2015 and started registration, giving the sheriff's office his address. He also had 30 days to pay all his registration fees.
When he didn't pay deputies said they went to his given address, but Pardue was long gone.
Deputies booked Pardue into the parish jail where he was given a bond of $100,294.
